The Staples and Motley Dollars for Scholars supports Staples-Motley High School seniors (and non-traditional students) by providing scholarships to help them as they attain a higher education. We encourage individuals and businesses to sponsor scholarships and donate money to our trust fund, from which we use the interest for scholarships. People donate money to our trust fund as memorials and retirement gifts to honor relatives and friends, some make Staples and Motley Dollars for Scholars the beneficiary of estates, and many donate goods and services to our annual auction. The Staples and Motley Dollars for Scholars Board thanks everyone who have and continue to donate and sponsor scholarships to help us accomplish our goals. With your contributions we gave a total of $106,050 in scholarship in 2022 - the highest single year amount to date. Since it's inception in 1986, the Staples and Motley Dollars for Scholars has given out $2,000,050 in student scholarships. These amazing accomplishments would not be possible without our generous donors!
The scholarships offered are an attempt by local educators, organizations, businesses and concerned individuals to recognize and reward academic excellence and other outstanding achievements of graduating Staples-Motley students. These scholarships are also awarded in an attempt to encourage seniors to continue on to post-secondary education and retain a commitment to be life-long learners.
Students interested in applying for the scholarship awards should carefully note the criteria for each award. Seniors and non-traditional students may apply for as many scholarships as they are eligible. Only one application needs to be completed in order to apply for scholarships.
The scholarships listed are channeled through the Staples and Motley Dollars for Scholars Fund. In addition to sponsored scholarships, funds are also raised at the annual auction and spaghetti feed which will take place on Monday, January 23rd, 2023. Food will be served and the silent auction begins at 5 p.m.; the live auction starts at 6 p.m. Scholarships will be awarded to the recipients during the annual awards night on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023 at 7 p.m.
Dollars for Scholars chapters like ours help local students achieve their educational goals by raising scholarship funds, establishing endowments, providing assistance with college readiness and the financial aid process, and distributing scholarships each year.
